Item 417. Nelson Rockefeller & Wife Margaretta (Happy) at Polling Booth in
Chappaqua, NY
November 4, 1958
Nat Fein supplied the horseshoe as a prop for good luck. Nelson Rockefeller
refused to give it back saying “No, no it’s mine”
insisting that it will bring him good luck. Rockefeller went on to win his
first term as New York's Governor.
The next day Rockefeller called Nat Fein to thank him for the good fortune and
said that he was glad he
did not part with the lucky horseshoe which brought the big margin.
